First GLOBAL Secondary DNS server for ලංකා, இலங்கை at CommunityDNS Networks
| The CommunityDNS Networks has enabled DNS hosting for ලංකා, இலங்கை domains from 29th April 2010. This allows the global community to access ලංකා, இலங்கை domains internationally. The DNS server IP address is as follows:

ලංකා, இலங்கை has been approved as IDN ccTLD for Sri Lanka
The string ලංකා, இலங்கை has been approved as a representation of the corresponding country/territory name in the IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process on 21 Mar 2010. It implies that these two names are accepted as the IDN CCTLD for Sri Lanka and will be configured in the root servers when IDN implementation is done.
Mobitel Enabled IDN in their name server
Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd enabled IDN ccTLD in their caching name servers on 16th December and now their customers can access websites having Sinhala/ Tamil URLs. They have enabled 2 caching name servers to resolve .ලංකා and .இலங்கை domains
Suntel Enabled IDN for .ලංකා and .இலங்கை
Suntel Limited enabled IDN ccTLD in their caching name servers on 12th December and now their customers can access websites having Sinhala/ Tamil URLs
IDN Launch @ e-Asia Conference
IDN ccTLDs of Sri Lanka, .ලංකා and .இலங்கை were officially launched at e-Asia conference on 2nd December.

Dialog Telekom Enabled IDN
Dialog telekom joined the IDN testing process on 23rd March 2009. This enables their customers to use IDNA and IDN for internet applications.
LankaCom - First .இலங்கை IDN ccTLD secondary server
Lanka Communication Services (Pvt) Ltd (LankaCom) was the first secondary DNS hosting party for .இலங்கை IDN ccTLD on 12 Feb 2009
IDN Awareness Session for ISPs
The LK Domain Registry in collaboration with the TelecommunicationRegulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRC) and the Information Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) organized an Awareness Session on Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) and its deployments in ISP's DNS System. It was held on Wednesday, 28th January 2009 from 2 - 4.30 p.m. at the TRCSL, 276 Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 8.
This was the first initiative taken in regard to IDNA in Sri Lanka Most of the ISPs in Sri Lanka participated in the event and expressed their willingness to deploy IDN in their systems.
